Albert Lee
Turner
Oct 13, 1965 — Jun 14, 2026
Albert "Lee" Turner, 60, known to his grandchildren and many others as "Big Daddy," passed away on June 14, 2026, at Southgate Living Center in Caruthersville.
Lee was born in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Albert Turner and Margaret Sanderson Turner of Canton, Mississippi. He graduated from Canton Academy in 1984. Lee worked for several years at Federal Compress and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Hayti Fire Department.
If you knew Lee, you knew he was passionate about barbecue. He later turned that passion into a business, opening two restaurants. His famous slaw burger was a favorite among many and could make anyone's mouth water.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Albert Turner, and brother, Terry Joe Turner. Grandson, Austin Reno
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Sanderson Turner; two brothers, Louis Turner and Kenneth Turner, of Canton, Mississippi; his daughters, Kristin (Eric), Mandi (Jesse) of Caruthersville, and one son, Hunter (Avery) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and seven beloved grandchildren: Hailea, Miley, Jaxon Tate; Andrew Reno; Jett Brotz; and twins Coleman and Brooks Johnson, all of Caruthersville. And many friends.
Of all the roles Lee held throughout his life, none brought him more joy than being a father and a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and the title of "Big Daddy" was one he wore with great pride. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
"Big Daddy" leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, good food, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, with Pastor Jon Haywood officiating.
