Obituary

Chester "Dewey" Bennett, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and deep love for his family.

Born in Hayti, MO in 1949, Dewey proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A disabled veteran, he carried both the visible and invisible scars of war with unwavering resilience and dignity. His commitment to his fellow soldiers and his country never wavered, and his service remains a point of deep pride for his family.

Dewey was a devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Tresa, with whom he shared many years of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Known for his quick wit, and deep sense of loyalty, Dewey found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He always enjoyed the need for speed, classic cars, and was also a regular at local bingo halls, where he found friendship, fun, and a bit of friendly competition.

Chester "Dewey" Bennett is survived by his four daughters, Amber (RJ) Nelson, Cynthia (Dustin) Flint, Marissa Bennett-Lesley, and Brandi Bennett, numerous grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will miss his steady presence and generous spirit.

A celebration of Dewey's life was held on July 18, 2025, at John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Missouri, with a graveside service following at Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers were RJ Nelson, Dustin Flint, David Greer, Buford Barnet, Ty Hendershot, Dane Johnson, and Dusty Hendershot.

Rest easy, soldier. Your watch is over.
