David Fredric Thompson was born in Hayti, Missouri on February 23, 1957. He passed away on March 24, 2026, at his family home in Hayti. He was 69 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jewel "Jack" Thompson and Viola Drew Thompson, sisters: Surfire Henley and Revola Thompson Jacob.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He worked as an electrician for Kelly Electric for many years. He was also a master mason, a pack chairman for the Cub Scouts, and a member of the Eastern Stars. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking. David had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends who will miss him dearly.

He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory:

Wife of 47 years: Donna McElwrath Thompson

4 Children: David Thompson II, Shavonda Thompson, Cris Tina Thompson, and Elizabeth Thompson, all of Hayti, MO.

4 Grandchildren: Meegan Sanders, Kayla Sanders, Harley Thompson, and Zayne McElwarth

Great Grandson: Levi Jordan

Sister: Jacquline Thompson

Nieces: Shannan Burgess, Markee Burgess, Dr. Billie McElwrath, and Angie McElwrath

And a host of other relatives and friends.

Nephews: Tommy McElwrath, Timothy Henley, and Jon Burgess
