Delana
Carter
Oct 3, 1933 — Oct 23, 2023
Delana Carter, 90, of Steele, Missouri passed away on Tuesday October 23, 2023, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital. She was born in the community of Samford, Missouri on October 3, 1933, the daughter of the late Frank and Myrl (Edwards) Stewart.
Delana fell in love at the young age of 16 and married the love of her life Johnnie Carter on October 8, 1949, in Cooter Missouri. They are an example of a true marriage. Delana and her husband Johnnie joined the First Baptist Church of Steele on September 5, 1951. She was a woman who loved God and freely gave that same love to others, especially her family making sure they were taken care of. Her love was also expressed by all the children in this area that she took care of. Her family added up how many children she watched over the years and the total came to around 600 children she was responsible for rearing in her day care business, along with the many other countless children and adults she cared for. Her family said that they thought she had a direct line to our Lord, as she would get a feeling or a nudge on her heart that something might be going on in their lives and would give them a call to see how they were doing, and most times it was the perfect timing to talk with her. One question she would always ask was, Are you still going to church?
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers: Frank B. Stewart, W.T. Stewart, Charles Stewart, Pat Stewart, and the triplets Rex, Lex and Max Stewart. 2 Sisters: Georgia Atkinson, Maude Alice Boulin
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Johnnie Carter of the home.
3 Children: Janice Marie Weaver and her husband Denny of Clarksville, MS Keith Allen Carter Sr. and his wife Robyn of Steele, MO John Mark and his wife Lisa of Steele, MO
7 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren
