Obituary

Douglas Eugene Jordan died April 14, 2022, in Dyersburg, TN. He was born in Larned, KS January 1,1959, the first of four children born to Gary and Judy Ely Jordan. He grew up in Hugoton, KS and graduated in 1979 from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK. Doug joined the Jordan Air family ag spray business as the company mechanic. He began working at Mid-Continent in MO in 1992 as a mechanic and was Assistant Parts Manager for the rest of his 30-year career. He loved his job and enjoyed the time he spent with his Mid-Continent co-workers and customers.

Doug was a talented mechanic and could turn a hand to almost anything that needed fixed or rebuilt. He built and flew radio-controlled airplanes for some years, and more recently could be found on evenings and weekends rebuilding helmets for ag spray pilots. It was detail work, and he was good at it.

Doug loved games, and especially liked winning at pool, cards, and dominos. However, at the casino or the racetrack he was happy enough to be 'least loser'.

Doug had families and friends in Missouri, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Florida, and Kansas. Stephen Chastain and he lived together in Missouri; his sister Kim (Kate) Jordan in Kentucky; brother Terry (Jill) and his mother Judy in Kansas; brother Austin (Cyndee) in Florida; and his sister Kaitlyn and stepmother Gracie Jordan in Oklahoma. He had many nieces and nephews in his extended family from Kansas. Nieces are Adria (Jeremy) Kaiser and children Jonathan and Alexa; Kendra (Rob) Schobert and children Kaleb and Adelyn; Marissa (Derek) Bennett and children Payton and Ryleigh; and a nephew Chris (Jessica) Jordan and daughter Hattie.

Doug's father Gary died in 2015, and brother Todd in 1999.

Doug was always ready to help when friends or family needed a hand and will be well-remembered for it. We will always smile when remembering his neurotic attention to detail in keeping his red trucks well-waxed and well-tuned, and because he was a skilled mechanic who could always manage to keep his hands clean. He will be missed.

Celebration of Life will be held at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 12-2 pm. A graveside service will take place April 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Hugoton Cemetery in Stevens County, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Barnes-Jewish Children's Hospital in St. Louis, a charity to which Doug contributed. Donations can be sent in care of the John W. German Funeral Home, 208 N. 3 rd in Hayti, MO. 68351.
