Elic Lee
Wells
May 30, 1963 — Apr 23, 2026
Elic Lee Wells, Sr. was born on May 30, 1963, in Hayti, Missouri, to the late Sam and Clemetine Wells. He was preceded in death by one son, Alexander Payne; five brothers: Joe, Sammie, and Milton Wells, Fred Patterson, and Charles Wilkerson; two sisters: Fannie Wilkerson and Pearl Alexander.
Elic was the 15th child of 17 children. He grew up in the rural part of Pemiscot County in a community known as Ingram Ridge. In the early 1970s, the family moved to Hayti Heights, Missouri.
Elic was educated in the Hayti Public School System. He attended Hayti High School as a teenager. It was there he gained a sense of pride that led him to explore working with his hands. After high school, Elic began working for the City of Hayti Heights under the leadership of the late Mayor David Humes Sr. While working with the city, a major construction opportunity arose, and Elic embraced it. He was proud to help build the first phase of the Hayti Heights Housing Authority.
After completing that project, Elic's career began at Consolidated Grainery in Caruthersville, Missouri. For over ten years, Elic dedicated his young adult life as a hard worker for the farm graining company. He later worked for Palestine Supply for three years a plastic supply company in Portageville, Missouri. He retired from corporate work and became an entrepreneur, scraping metal and providing private transportation services. Elic later started his own Lawn Care Service. His strong work ethic and commitment to helping others continued to shine.
Elic was fondly called "Boone" by family and friends. He was known as a hardworking and dedicated man. Boone's heart was as big as they came. He was the kind of person you could always count on.
As fate would have it, Boone and Verna Johnson began dating and were united in holy matrimony on March 1, 2001. They became a blended family. His family was very important to him, and he showed it every chance he had.
Boone was a faithful member of Divine Holliness Outreach Ministries for over 20 years, under the leadership of Pastor Jamie Jones, he served on the Deacon Board. He meant a lot to his hometown, and they meant a great deal to him as well.
Boone enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and traveling. He spent time in Arkansas, Chicago, Iowa, New York, and Georgia, just to name a few places. But his greatest joy was being with his family. He truly adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters. He was known for his patience, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was truly the person you could count on. He always made sure those around him were okay, offering support and showing love in many ways. Boone's life reflected strength, compassion, and dedication.
April 23, 2026, Boone slipped peacefully into Eternal Rest while in the arms of his loving wife. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who know him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Verna Mae Wells.
