Gary Hershel "Pappy" Layman was born in Birchtree, Missouri on July 27, 1944. He passed away on October 30, 2024, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was 80 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hershel and Edna Layman, and 2 sisters.

Gary enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed playing pool and cards.

He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory:

Children: Gary W. (Cindy) Layman of Marietta, MS.

Jody G. Layman of Ripley, MS.

Michelle Turner-Collins (Terry) of Macomb, MO.

Grandchildren: Gary Jacob (Jala) Layman, Jackie (Jake) Marquez, Nick Layman,

Liana (Shane) Landrum, Casey, Lacy, and Curtis Smith, Stacy,

Jack, Jacee, Cammie, and Saylor Collins.

9 Great Grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters

Companion: Lesa Cutler

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO. with Brother Doug Wahls officiating.
