Obituary

Gayla Middleton, 77, of Hayti, Missouri, was born on June 23, 1949, in Wardell, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, in Kennett, Missouri, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ollie Mae Barymon, and 4 siblings, Donald Barymon, Peggy Hooker, Shelby Hawlett, and Charlene Barymon.

Gayla was a woman whose life was not defined by a career or accomplishments, but by the people she cared for and the love she gave so freely. Throughout her life, she worked as a caretaker, offering comfort, compassion, and kindness to many who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Caring for others came naturally to her. She had a heart for people and never hesitated to help someone in need. She gave her love generously, always making others feel welcome and cared for. She gave pieces of herself to so many, and the lives she touched are better because she was in them

Above all else, Gayla loved her family and Jesus. Her family was her greatest joy and the center of her world.

We are grateful for the years we were blessed to have her, and we find comfort knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus.

She is survived by four children: Doyletta (John) Thrasher of Pascola, MO., Lee (Pam) Middleton of Caruthersville, MO., Mandy Middleton of Kennett, MO., and Justin (Sarah) Middleton of Steele, MO., 4 grandchildren: Johnathan (Kaylee) Thrasher, Matt Middleton, Abby Blagg (Casey Redden), Luke (Emily) Blagg, and Eli Middleton; 6 great-grandchildren: John David Thrasher, Stella Beth Thrasher, Addy Redden, Aiden Redden, Avery Blagg, and Creed Blagg.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO., with Brother Zack Parr officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO. Burial will be in Wardell Cemetery in Wardell, MO.
