Obituary

G.W. Dean was born March 6, 1940, to Russell and Ruby (Barnes) Dean in Hayti, Missouri and departed this earth on July 1, 2022, from Rogers, Arkansas.  G.W. was married to his high school sweetheart, Harriet Ann (Whitener) Dean for over 62 years.  Loving father to Lee Ann Dean of Bella Vista, Arkansas and George Cory Dean of Venice, Florida. Loving Gdaddy to Cole, Carson, Carly, Collin and Madison. He was preceded in death by his oldest child, Kyle Morgan.

G.W. was an outstanding athlete and proud Hayti Indian. His life took him from a successful coaching career to owning and building several successful businesses.  A man's man, G.W. was a true child of the 50's and loved Elvis, western movies and was a talented dancer. He enjoyed a good story, great cheeseburgers and college sports.

G.W. lived his life with a generous spirit, tenacious determination and great sense of humor.  He had an empathetic heart and believed everyone deserved a helping hand and second chance.  He never gave up on anyone.  He had a special charisma that drew people to him.

He was respected and appreciated by the young men that he coached.  Many made their way to his front porch, dining table and locker room for advice, encouragement and honesty.

G.W. was a magnet for small children.  They instinctively knew that beneath his powerful personality was a gentle kindness.  His grandchildren and others wildly adored him.

A man with deep and enduring friendships, he believed in loyalty.  He did not suffer fools gladly and held himself to high standards.  In particular, deeds not words are all that mattered to him.  A man of action, he lived it.

We, his children, are profoundly grateful for him as our father.  We have lived in the security of his strong, steady presence and warm embrace.  He taught us how to be in the world.  To stand on our own two feet, to have the courage of your convictions, stay true to yourself and live fully.  We owe him a debt that can never be paid.  We can only live the rest of our lives in a manner to honor him.

Our Mother was the true love of his life.  He was devoted to her. The love and life they shared is to be envied.

We are utterly and completely devastated at the loss of this great man. Our hearts are shattered.

A man of substance.  A life well lived.

Rest easy now our beloved.
