Obituary

Mr. John Lee Winters, affectionately known as "Johnny," passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on October 7, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born on October 21, 1956. John was the 5th of 6 children born to Geneva Dorsey and Jessie James Winters Sr., both of Kosciusko, MS.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Dorsey; father, Jessie James Winters Sr.; brother, Ellis Davis; sister-in-law, Bertha Davis; brother-in-law, Levi Hudson; nephews: Curtis Winters, Anthony Winters, Cedric Winters; and nieces: Annie Ray Winters, Patricia Winters, Diane Winters, Jessica Williams.

John had a love for mowing yards; he took great pride in his work and enjoyed every minute of it. If he ever had a problem with the lawn mower, he would call on Mike and want it fixed ASAP. After a long day of mowing, he would relax with a cold "Big Red" soda and lay back to watch western movies. He will be truly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory: 3 sisters: Ammie Lockart, Gloria Hudson, and Denise Winters, all of Hayti, MO., one brother: Jessie Winters Jr. of Caruthersville, MO., 4 nieces, 11 nephews, and a special nephew: Michael Winters of Hayti, MO. And a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Cedar St. Missionary Baptist Church in Hayti, with Pastor Darion Thomas officiating.
