Linda Marie
Cannon
Sep 29, 1950 — Apr 11, 2026
Linda Cannon was born in Hayti, Missouri, on September 29, 1950, to the late Hattie Marie Moore and Luther Joiner in Hayti, MO. She grew up surrounded by love, faith, and strong family values that shaped the woman she would become. Linda graduated from Central High School in 1968, where she met the love of her life and future husband, the late Reverend Eddie Lee Cannon. Soon after high school, Linda and Reverend Cannon began their life together in St. Louis, Missouri, building a home grounded in faith, love, and service. Together, they were blessed with five sons: Edwon Bernard Cannon, Sedwick Cannon, Lawrence Cannon, Terry Cannon, and Rodney Cannon, whom Linda nurtured with devotion and strength. While raising her family, she pursued higher education at Harris-Stowe State University and completed an internship at Catholic Head Start St. Cornan, where her passion for early childhood education began to blossom. Linda went on to earn her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, further strengthening her commitment to educating and nurturing young children. She worked with the Archdiocese Head Start program until 1998, when she made the difficult decision to resign due to news of her mother's declining health. She returned home to care for her mother, demonstrating her deep devotion to family. In 1999, Linda began a new chapter of her career at Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, Missouri, where she served as cage manager. She was known for her strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership skills. Linda remained there until her retirement from Lady Luck Casino in 2015. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her only living aunt, Lucy Royal; her surviving sister, Marilyn Moore; and the treasured memory of her siblings who preceded her in death, Karen Moore, Larry Moore, and Pamela Moore. She leaves to celebrate her legacy with 14 grandchildren, including Marcellus Cannon, Kiara Cannon, Ciara Cannon, and Brianna Cannon; a host of great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will forever hold her memory close. Linda Cannon will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her lifelong commitment to helping and uplifting others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence touched many lives. Her legacy of love, strength, and service will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, with Pastor Darion Thomas officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Hayti.
