Lola Mae (Vaughn) Brodie 81, of Cooter, Missouri passed away on Friday July 12, 2024, at NHC in Kennett, Missouri. She was born on June 16, 1943, in the community of Micola in Pemiscot County, the daughter of the late Lester Bell and Velta Mae (Mathenia) Vaughn.

Lola was small in stature but was large in life!  A true spit fire from day one, raised with 4 sisters and 2 brothers she was able to dish it out to whoever crossed her or her loved ones. She was known in the Bootheel area for working side by side with her sister Ann and brother-in-law Willie Barger on cotton pickers for over 40 years. She made it well known not to interrupt her during lunchtime but all other times she was working hard in the shop replacing picker spindles. She enjoyed reading, playing Shanghai, cards and gambling and traveling to the beach with her sisters and family. At night she would watch Gunsmoke with Matt Dillion and her favorite actor John Wayne who she would tell all that she would sleep with John Wayne every night, having a cover with his picture on it.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Anthony "Tony" Brodie who was the Light of her Life, her stepson Ronnie Brodie, 3 sisters Barbara Vaughn, Ann Barger and Vickie Parrott, 1 brother Charles (Butch) Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2024, at 11:00 am with Brother Dave Lewelling and Brother Don Tims Jr. officiating at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele, Missouri. The visitation will be at 10:00 am the same day until service time. Interment will be at the Cooter # 8 Cemetery in Cooter, Missouri. Pallbearers are Allen Barger, Michael Barger, Devon Barger, Nick Smith, William (Willie) Barger. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Turnage and Larry Parrott. In Lieu of flowers the family ask that you send donations to St. Jude's Hospital or Number 8 Cemetery in Cooter, Missouri, 299 County Highway 564 Steele, Missouri 63877.
