Raymond Lee
Gatewood
Nov 1, 1953 — Jun 8, 2026
Raymond Lee "Butch" Gatewood Sr., 72, of Caruthersville, Missouri, passed
away on June 8, 2026.
Born on November 1, 1953, in Hayti, Missouri, Butch was the son of J-Bird
Gatewood and Modene "Dene" Gatewood Jones. He was also blessed to have been
raised and loved by his stepfather, Pervis "Perk" Jones.
Butch was known for his love of motorcycles, his gift for storytelling, and
his talent for wheeling and dealing. He never met a stranger and could make
a friend wherever he went. Whether sharing stories from years gone by,
talking with friends and family, or making a deal, Butch enjoyed life's
simple pleasures and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Kay Gatewood; his
mother, Modene "Dene" Gatewood Jones; his father, J-Bird Gatewood; his
stepfather, Pervis "Perk" Jones; and his brother, Bobby Gatewood.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, BJ Gatewood (April) and Lee
Gatewood; his grandchildren, Abbie Gatewood, Ayden Gatewood, and Leigha
Gatewood; his great-grandson, Hudson Rece Wommack; along with numerous
nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Butch will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and Papaw. He loved
the freedom of the open road, the thrill of wheeling and dealing, and
spending time sharing stories with those around him. His quick wit,
larger-than-life personality, and love for his family will be deeply missed
but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Butch is reunited with his beloved
wife, Linda, whom he dearly missed. Though his passing leaves a void in the
hearts of those who loved him, his stories, laughter, and memories will
live on through the generations of family and friends who were blessed to
know him.
"The stories may have ended, but the memories will be told for generations
to come."
