Richard Sykes, Jr., was born in Clarkdale, Mississippi on June 2, 1951. He passed away on April 5, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 73 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard, Sr. and Estalle Sykes, 3 sisters: Katrina, Bertha, and Millie, 3 brothers: Larry, Johnny, and Steven Sykes.

Richard Sykes, Jr. son of Richard, Sr. and Estalle Sykes was a shining example of determination and perseverance, possessing a diverse range of skills and passion. As a skilled farmer, mechanic, carpenter, coal miner, he was a master of various trades, inspiring those around him. He was also an avid fisherman and always seeking new adventures.

Throughout his life he achieved many remarkable successes, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. He held his wife Ivory Sykes and their children Ricky, Shantay, Stella, Richard III, Aurthel, Stacy, and Ray in his highest regard. Instilling in them the values of love, hard work, and resilience. Furthermore, he left behind a host of grandchildren, Jewell, Jasmine, Kentrell, Abdul, "Jaries" and by son Ricky: Jaruis, by son Aurthel: Aurthel Jr., and by Stacy: Giana, Stacy Jr., Latoya, Ashley, and Tracy, and by son Ray: Rachel, Anthony, Christopher, Darnell, and Justin, and by Shantay: Kentrell, Jasmine, Jewell, Abdul. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He will never be forgotten and always loved father, friend, uncle, and family man.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m on April 19, 2025, at the Cedar St. Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Darion Thomas officiating. Pallbearers were Steven Thompson, Ricky Sykes, Don, Green, Lawerence Green, and Antonio Green.
