Sonny Allen McDaniel, 67, of Huffman, departed this life at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026He was a lifelong resident to the Huffman community. Known by his family and friends as "Sundown" or "Papaw" Mr. McDaniel was born Aug. 23, 1959, in Blytheville, AR, to the late Henry McDaniel and Louis Knight.

He worked for Bush Canning and Bunge/ Viserion Grain to which he retired from after 30+years of service.He enjoyed attending car shows, watching wrestling and, most of all, spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry McDaniel and Lois Knight; and his grandparents, Dudley and Lavell McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Theresa McDaniel; his two children, Crystal Givens of Huffman, AR and Clint (Josey) McDaniel, USAF, Ft. Dix, NJ; one brother, Scotty McDaniel of Steele, MO; and one sister, Penny McDaniel of Huffman, AR.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joseph Fondren of Blytheville, AR; Jacob Fondren of USAF Jacksonville, AR;Jayce Fondren of Blytheville, AR; Bailey McDaniel of Ft. Dix, NJ; Leah "Gracie" Givens (Richard Vardinakis) of Huffman, AR; Brianna "Pooh Bear" McDaniel of Ft. Dix, NJ; and Kayden Wells of Gosnell, AR.

He leaves behind a special nephew and niece, Raymond Hill (Tasha Smith) of Cooter, MO, and Terri (Jay) Thomas of Huffman, AR, as well as his nephews, Jeffrey, Jeremy Scott, and Jason McDaniel. As well as great-nieces and a great-nephew Kandala and Addie Thomas of Huffman, AR, and Jaylin Thomas of Marie,AR

The family will receive visitors Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, at John W. German Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
