Obituary

Wendell Louis Hoskins was born July 26, 1941, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Charley Louis Hoskins and Eva Lou Brigance Hoskins.

He passed away peacefully at his home in rural Steele, Missouri, on September 11, 2026, at the age of 85.

Wendell was a successful farmer and businessman, having started his career with a 20-acre farm and a rented store building in the Oakville community.

He graduated high school from Deering, Missouri, served honorably in the United States Army and was a proud member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Wendell was joined in matrimony with Patricia Diane Thomason of Caruthersville, Missouri, with whom he shared sixty-plus years.

Wendell was hard-driven but soft-hearted and contributed generously to his community and those in need. Wendell proudly served the Missouri Democratic Party as Committeeman for Pemiscot County and the Eighth Senatorial District, and he served two terms as Pemiscot County Associate Commissioner.

His proudest role was that of father to twins, Wende and Wendell, and grandfather to Matthew, Thomas, Hadley, Louis and Leigha.

Wendell was preceded in death by his daughter Wende, as well as by his parents and both brothers, Raymond and Charles.

Wendell is survived by his beloved wife Pat, one sister, Rebecca Wilfong and Herman "Butch" of Wappapello, Missouri, his son Wendell and daughter-in-law Gayla, five grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas, Hadley, Louis and Leigha, and a host of relatives and friends.
