William Luther Lakey was born on January 18, 1942, in Tyronza, Arkansas. He passed away on February 2, 2026, at Jackson Madison General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. He was 84 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Luther Lakey and Bernice Snyder Lakey, 3 sisters: Sue Conner, Imajene Lakey, and Dolly Boswell, one brother: Larry Lakey, and one daughter: Jerrie M. Lappie.

William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He believed in God in his own way. He was born the 4th out of 10 children. He was a semi-truck driver for over 30 years. He drove across the country and could tell you anything about any highway. He knew his roads. He loved being around family and any babies. He loved all babies. He loved doing any job outdoors. He loved being outside. To have known him was to love him.

He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory:

Wife: Kathy Lakey of Caruthersville, MO.

3 Children: Donnie (Kari Hisplit), Donna Trahan, and Brenda Jenkins

2 Grandsons: Sean Craig and Charles Craig

6 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great- Great Grandchildren.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO. with Brother Doug Wahls officiating.
